FAQ’s
Q: Why do the lights dim when I turn my TV or computer on? A: Lights may dim when certain appliances are turned on because the wire in that circuit has to share its area with more current. The “in rush” current that is generated by turning something on can overwhelm a circuit causing the lights to dim.
Q: What if all the outlets in my house have only two slots instead of three? A: Before revisions of the code a separate ground was not required in most applications now a separate ground is required by code. The correct way to fix this problem is to bring a separate ground wire to the outlet and to change it out to a new style outlet.
Q: Do I need to test a ground fault circuit interrupter? A: Yes, it recommended that you test each device once a month. These devices could be damaged by a power surge or electrical storm appearing to be working properly and give the individual a false sense of security.
Q: Are Arc Fault circuit interrupters required by the National Electrical Code? A: Yes, as of January 2002 Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCI’s) are required by the National Electrical Code on all new bedroom circuits. Protect your home too, install AFCI’s now and get peace of mind from their added fire protection.
Q: Should I attempt to work on simple electrical changes in my home or office myself? R: Absolutely not! Unless you are sure of how to do it safely, and within current code regulations. Wiring is not a hobby call a licensed electrician. |
